Event Overview
This evening seminar will evaluate the psychological evidence relating to four commonly accepted tests of witness credibility;
- The credit of the witness in relation to matters not germane to the litigation (circumstantial evidence relating to a person's character).
- The consistency of the witness's evidence with what is agreed, or clearly shown by other evidence, to have occurred.
- Consistency with what the witness has said or deposed on other occasions.
- The demeanour of the witness (conduct/behaviour/appearance).
There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion and a chance to meet experts from the Department of Psychology at Goldsmiths, University of London.
