Russian extradition request discharged.
On 8 December 2015, Senior District Judge Riddle discharged Mr Ereshchenko from an extradition request made by the Russian Federation. Mr Ereshchenko was requested to face trial as part of the BTA Bank (Kazakhstan) litigation along with others including Mr Ablyazov, the former opposition politician in Kazakhstan. However, the CPS on behalf of the Russian Government accepted that there was in fact no criminal conduct within the extradition request and Mr Ereshchenko was discharged. Barrister Ben Keith was instructed by Rebecca Niblock at Kingsley Napley and led by Mark Summers QC. This was the 3rd extradition request in relation to the BTA Bank litigation that Mr Keith and Dr Niblock have successfully defeated.
