Care and nursing agency director imprisoned in facilitation case
 
Mahendrasing Caussyram, director of Surrey-based care and nursing agency CareFirst 24, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment this week.  His company engaged numerous overseas nationals to work in breach of the conditions of their visas, with some workers continuing to work for the company after their visas had expired.  The judge found that the workers were subjected to a degree of exploitation   Sara Caussyram, his co-director wife, received a suspended sentence of imprisonment.  Andrew Evans, leading John Warrington, prosecuted the case.  They were instructed by the Special Casework Unit of the Crown Prosecution Service.  A link to an Evening Standard press report appears below:
