The Lord Chief Justice has assigned him to the South Eastern Circuit, and he will principally sit at Canterbury Crown Court. An official announcement has been made on the Judiciary website and can be viewed here.
Edmund Burge is a leading criminal junior who specialises in large-scale commercial and financial crime. He is ranked in Chambers and Partners (2017 & 2018) as a leader in the field of financial crime at the London Bar. He has particular expertise in matters of tax fraud, money laundering, arms trafficking & brokering and corruption. His cases frequently raise complex issues of jurisdiction, disclosure, and public interest immunity, and he is on the Attorney General’s Panel of Special Advocates in cases involving matters of terrorism and National Security.
Edmund is currently also acting in the Public Inquiry into Undercover Policing as First Junior Counsel to the Metropolitan Police. The Inquiry is examining the use of long-term deployments of undercover police officers since 1968, and their effects on those they infiltrated.
5SAH would like to congratulate Edmund on his appointment and wish him every success in his role as a Recorder.
