Ben Keith, 5SAH Chambers and Rhys Davies, Temple Garden Chambers, have been instructed to represent Zack Shahin in submissions to the United States State Department and to the United Nations.
Mr Shahin, 57, is the longest-serving American in a foreign jail accused of a white-collar crime. Ben and Rhys have been instructed lead the legal efforts for his release, including submissions under the US Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act, and submissions to the Special Procedures mechanism of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Ben Keith is a leading barrister specialising in Extradition and International Crime, as well as dealing with Immigration, Serious Fraud, and Public law. He has extensive experience of appellate proceedings before the Administrative and Divisional Courts, Criminal and Civil Court of Appeal as well as applications and appeals to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and United Nations. Ben is a Deputy Judge of the Upper Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber).
