We are delighted to announce that Minahil Tariq, George Smart and Georgina Lane have all commenced pupillage at 5SAH Chambers.
Minahil is undertaking a family pupillage and George and Georgina are undertaking criminal pupillages.
Minahil Tariq - Family Pupil
Prior to starting pupillage, Minahil was a family law caseworker at Wilson Solicitors where she assisted with a broad range of family proceedings. From financial remedy cases to care proceedings she gained experience of cases across the full breadth of family law.
Minahil previously worked in Pakistan for nearly 2 years as an associate at Khan & Partners in Lahore and most recently completed an LLM in Social Justice from University College London.
During her time at University College London, Minahil volunteered at the Haringey Migrant Support Centre, INQUEST and Citizens Advice and more recently as a casework volunteer at Advocate.
George Smart - Criminal Pupil
Before starting his pupillage, George held a number of leadership roles within the Digital Advertising industry including Digital Client Director and Global Communications Director.
George completed the GDL and Bar Course at City University and, in both cases, was awarded a Distinction. Whilst undertaking his studies, George worked with vulnerable detainees as an Appropriate Adult in various police stations across North London.
George was called to the Bar in July 2023 by Middle Temple.
Georgina Lane - Criminal Pupil
Prior to starting pupillage, Georgina was a paralegal in the Extradition department at Sonn Macmillan Walker. During her time at Sonn Macmillan Walker, she assisted on numerous Part 1 and Part 2 cases, representing the Requested Person in both the Magistrates’ Court and on appeal before the High Court. These cases involved a full spectrum of issues, including arguments pertaining to Article 3, Article 6 and Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, as well as forum arguments.
During her time at BPP Law School, she volunteered as a caseworker for JENGbA (Joint Enterprise Not Guilty by Association) and the Freedom Law Clinic.
