David Josse QC (leading Eve George of Maidstone Chambers and instructed by Green & Co) secured 5SAH’s second murder acquittal in a week. David represented Caroline Rushworth in the course of an 8 week trial at Maidstone Crown Court. Ms Rushworth was jointly charged with two others with the killing of a fellow drug addict in her flat in Chatham in August 2017. After over 40 hours of deliberation, the jury found Ms Rushworth not guilty of both murder and manslaughter whilst convicting another defendant of murder. The jury were unable to reach a majority verdict in relation to the remaining defendant for whom a re-trial was ordered.
